Social Media Marketing on Facebook - Is It Great Content or a Massacre

Facebook Friends and Fans Like Great Content not......Massacring.

So what's the point of a cause if there is no affect? Does your Business really need a Fan Page and fans? Is it critical to your financial survival that you are "Liked" on Facebook? YES! But how much of the business information that you provide is being considered "great content" by fewer and fewer of your friends and fans? This video is thought provoking and fairly accurate. Do you know people using Social Media marketing in this way to massacre the masses?

Oddly enough, it's not the first video I had to watch twice to really make sense of it.

It's all about awesome quality content, and that goes for ANY social media networking site, even Facebook. Content on every site should be interesting, relevant, and valuable to your readers and target audience, not just to you. It's called social media marketing and not social media massacring. The real question? "What is Great Social Media Marketing Content?" I'll try and break that down into bite size chunks for you next... stay tuned. :-)

BTW - I loved his last line in this video, how many of us haven't received that one? lol~

I'll be looking for the forthcoming answers, Brad. I hate watching something which leaves me with a question in my head as to why I bothered watching it in the first place. Grrr..

I have at least a third of my facebook friends on 'hide' now due to all the stupid postings and popups that come from their various games and such.

I will be looking forward to the content information.  I liked this video because it helps sum it up to those who just dont get it.  I didnt want to turn off all my friends so I don't post on my personal facebook page, I keep it separate on a fan page.  There are alot who would argue but I don't think my friends in Oklahoma and Florida want to hear about the fabulous new property I just listed in Louisiana!

Back to basics - Keep it "Interesting, relevant, valuable. And not just to you the writer, but to me the viewer/reader."

A timeless and universal statement. Writers have known this for centuries before social media. The fundamentals of communication have not changed, only the methods and speed of delivery.

Thx for sharing. Funny video. Yes, some people just lack common sense. I try to be extra careful on facebook - not to talk too much work stuff. I try to keep it more social.

Too many people don't get social media.  I hada  featured post a few weeks ago where I tried to challenge AR bloggers to do more than post listings and regurgitate data.  Got a lot of Negative Nellies that obviously didn't get it.

Great food for thought. Running a Fan page is a ton of work. It is so hard to continue to come up with great content. I guess the truth is quality not quantity. Many social nework gurus seem to push toward constant content. I have turned off all of the mafia war type repsonses from displaying on my page. You don't have to unfriend eople who lik to play the games. Just turn off (hide) the games.

Interesting, relevant, valuable - Makes sense - but that is another whole video on educating some folks on how to do that.

Interesting choice of words that massacring.  The spam word we all know but this is the first time I've come across the other used in this context.

Great points in the vid.  Applies to "normal" marketing too.  A lot of the stuff that we receive out there is just crap. But it is nice to know that Prince Faisel's entire family has thought well enough of me over the years to send me numerous requests to invest the money that he left them in an unmarked foreign bank account.

This is great content Brad and one many people should consider before they click on that button that Facebook makes so easy to notify everyone of what you are doing.  Like we care.  Sometimes we do, but not usually.  If it is not something you would call me about, why spam me about it?  There are some people here on AR who have gravitated to FB because of the google rankings they think will be better there than here. They totally don't get it is about good content and not just content. Thanks of for your post.

At least this post isn't about my program that is on sale this month for only 29.95 with no sales tax and free delivery!  rofl~

Ok, so I'm getting a reputation as the "post and go" guy, never to return to read or comment on his posts, but you all know that's not true...

I am actually in an area where there isn't any cell or Internet service so hopefully this comment will go through.

The content that generates a genuine interest on Facebook is uniquely different than most would think related to social media mktg.  I can show you hundreds and thousands of "update techniques" that will never work on Facebook, and just a handful of really good ideas for content that will generate interest, leads, cultivate relationships, and make the social media mktg endeavor much more fun and beneficial.

I will be back soon with that....

Yup, give me a reason to be a Fan of your page. It's not enough to get invites about every little going on - I WANT GOOD CONTENT!... Now if I could make good content consistantly then I would have a fan page of my own.

Brad, it's always about good, relevant content - be it your blog, website, listing presentation, marketing your listing or Facebook! Seems like such a no brainer and yet this is a good reminder, isn't it? See you in a few :)

Oh, now you've got my curiosity up!  I can't wait!  I have refused to allow those Farmville, etc. posts on my FB as I'm sure others have disallowed my real estate ads but, I have sold a listing on FB because of the post to friends there!  It's just such a challenge to figure out how much is too much there--again, I cannot WAIT for your post!

And, yes, I get those Nigerian offers ALL the time--but, you know the sad part of that?  There are actually folks who fall for that scheme!

I have hidden every farmville, mafia wars, etc etc that I can. New ones continue to pop up from friends. It's the spam.

Then I open my email and real estate newsletters are in there by the gazillion from people that I've never heard of.   I didn't subscribe, don't know where they got my email..  I've checked out a link or two and many of them are legitimate real estate brokerages...

The answer is Good Content. How do you get people to follow you on twitter? Good Content. How do you get friends to follow you on Facebook? Good Content. How do you get people to read your blog? Good Content.

The video is funny and I get the content issue. I am confussed about how to post my AR blog to my facebook page? How do you do it and it looks like it is separate from my personal WALL? I also don't understand the difference between localism blog and my outside blog? How do I promote them and are they different. I know I need to go to university, I just went to Rain Camp and it was over my head.
