I have a client who speaks 12 different languages.  She is an Active Rain member, and I hope she'll find this post!  I would love to see how she might use a tool like this. This could be a huge opportunity to open up the marketing floodgates all over the country!  The best way to find out, is of course, to do a post on my Blog and see what others have to say.

Go ahead and try this, convert this post to any language you choose. I'll show you how to add this to your Blog, Website, or any other HTML Internet web-page!  Some of you will read this and go get it right away, there are others of you that may not be familiar with HTML and how to place it on your AR profile or Blog.  This is just another little tech tip for you in trying to help you, "Get Your Arms Around Technology"

You can go to my widget showcase, and look for the following text at the top of the page: Try it for yourself...

If you like this tool, you can pick one up yourself at their website, and add it to your Blog.  Here's instructions how to add HTML to your Blog! DETAILS>>>

Great idea, and I'm off to check it out, Not that I think I have an International Following but I would like to add it to my site and a  couple of web sites. I like your snapshot feature too. Do you like it ?

Cool I will have to check this out and see what it is all about.  Thanks for the tip.

Brad - This could prove extremely helpful especiallly for agents working in the international scene.

It works, too.

I have such a feature on my MLS website, I wonder if people actually use it?

You do some great work!

Thanks

Brad, Where do you find all of this stuff.  This is great!  We have extended family all over the world and I am going to show this to my wife today.

Talk about a far reaching audience!!! Thanks Brad. I'm going to check this out. I have actually noticed people from other countries looking at one of my blogs outside of AR. :)

This...is...awesome! I speak 4 different languages, but never knew how or if I could encorporate that. Thanks for the idea!

We added a language translator to our website and a customer told us it actually translated into words that were quite insulting.  I guess it doesn't work perfectly.
Posted by Dan Forbes over 12 years ago

Sarah - that's what friends are for!!  :-) I'm glad you see the value in this translator.  You might want to check for accuracy based on the comment here by Dan Forbes!  I have not heard of that yet, but I am waiting to get some clarification from some of the bi-lingual agents in my area.

Edson - widgetbox has some great stuff!  I am mostly interested in the ones that can be used for real estate, lending, or the title industry.  This one seems that it may be useful for all! Thanks!

Missy - I do like the snapshot, but it's really for my readers and clients. Sometimes a screenshot can help them determine if they want to check it out further.  I have heard that the SEO may be affected by using it, but I'm not here for the SEO like many others, at least not for this blog! As far as international business, you may have more than you think...  :-)  Especially if they can read your Blog in their language.

Linda- you don't have to go far, just change the language of this blog under my photo over on the right.  One click, and it's checked out.  You can simply add it to your blog like any other widget. The link is for the details on how to do that, I hope it works for you.

Jennifer - this could open up more of the International scene for those who are interested. I am trying it for a while to see how it works.

Neal - you just need to focus on the many groups you have already.  I wonder what will happen if you add it to your group?  That would be a shocker to see all the Silver Star posts in German or French. :-)

Donna - leave it to me, I am always on the hunt for cool but useful technology for my clients and friends.  This one, I just couldn't resist.  I have heard there are huge costs in getting your website and blog translated into other languages.  I heard wrong, this one is FREE!  Gotta love it!

Mott - I do think some will use this. I noticed on my clustermap that I have some viewers from all across the world.  Not sure what languages are represented there, but I am sure these 18 might help increase readership.  Time will tell, but only in tell time. :-)

Steve - let me know what she thinks, you've got me curious now... LOL!

Pamela -  this may come in handy for your international and bi-lingual readers. I hope it becomes a useful tool for you. It just came out on August 21st, 2007 on WidgetBox.  They have some great stuff!

Elizabeth - It would be so AWESOME if you could check out a few of the translated languages you speak. I'd love to hear your comment as to how well the words are actually translated. It sure looks great, but I'd love to have your voice as part of the quality control. Thanks for whatever you can do. :-)
Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Executive Director of Education at eXp Realty) over 12 years ago
Dan - I guess the question is, did you add this translator? They are all different. I have not run this one by any International Communication Experts, but I'd love to know how it compares to the one you used that didn't work?  Thanks for the comment. Negative or Positive, the feedback and opinions are appreciated! Thanks!!  :-)

You are totally obsessed!!!

I would be worried about translation accuracy. My grammer and punctuation also leave room for error and what about tongue in cheek? Ohhh I wonder how that very phrase would translate?

Brad,

I tried the converter, translating to German - the site came in in German, but I kept getting a pop-up telling me the Google API key was registered to another website.  I could not leave a comment.

Any thoughts?

Wow Brad, where do you get all your info???  This is amazing and is a great tool.  I wonder though, if someone translates it to their language of choice, what happens when they contact you and you cannot communicate with them?
Posted by Sandy Noll, Real Estate Team From Mill Creek to Mercer Island ((RSVP Real Estate) 425.890.0878) over 12 years ago
Joan - LOL! I guess that would depend which language you used to convert it!  hahaha.
Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Executive Director of Education at eXp Realty) over 12 years ago

Sandy - just snooping on the web can get you tons of new and exciting technologies that are available. Just trying to keep up with all that is out there is "Virtually Impossible". But I still try my best!

If someone communicates with you in another language (on your blog), try converting it to english, type your response, then convert it back to the original language. You can also hire a human translator if need be. If you speak a different language, type something in that language and then convert it to english and see what it converts to. I have not tried this test yet, I am still learning english!! :-)

Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Executive Director of Education at eXp Realty) over 12 years ago
John - I got the same pop up you did.  I clicked ok, then everything worked fine. I was able to type a comment, but I had no idea what I was saying until I converted it back to english.  I thought this would be a tool at least worth looking into. Maybe Ray from Colorado will be able to help a little more. He speaks fluent Spanish, and will be a great resource to see how to better use this and confirm it's accuracy!  :-)
Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Executive Director of Education at eXp Realty) over 12 years ago
John - after some further research, it appears that AR gets an error on the page when trying to leave a comment. It may be a read only translator which would still allow people to read your blog or website in their native language. I guess they'd have to pick up the phone and call you if they needed more assistance. That's not such a bad thing either. This world communication thing will always be a work in progress and I anticipate it will just keep getting better and better!

This could be good is you speak the languages. But if I get someone that speaks Turkish and I haven't a clue what would I do with them? Heck if I got an email in Turkish it would take a Google search to figure out it is Turkish! LOL

Brad this is what the turkish to english translator gave me:

What is it doing with English to Turkish then? Holy Moly! Who knows what you are telling these people in their native language? This is seriously funny!

Here is what I think you had originally

What if a single click could convert your entire Blog or Web-page to a different language?  How about 18 different languages?  That would be very cool.  Well, I get excited about this stuff because I see there is a potential to reach more readers, have global potential with your business, and use the latest and greatest technology to enhance and grow your relationships.  Possibly breakdown the language barrier between you and your clients and readers.

Talk about lost in translation!

Ashley - this is exactly the type of comment I was looking for!  Thank you so much for proofing the translation in Turkish.  I wonder if it is the same for Spanish?  Either way, I see that this new technology has a ways to go before even getting close to perfection.  Thanks to you,  I can see saving myself, and others, a lot of embarrassment, by removing it from our blogs.  Thanks for your help on this, you're a translating savior! LOL! You have to admit, it would be a really cool tool if it were more accurate.  B-)

Brad several years ago my MS account rep ( I was in software sales) spoke a 2nd language. He would get a huge kick out of the jumbled mess I would email him. I was using Alta Vista Babel Fish to translate a short sentence in English into this other language. I know when my husband has tried it with German is off as well. It might be close enough that they get it but then again we might be saying something rude. I would be interested in what others who understand the language well think of the translation. I should see if I can get someone who can read Spanish to translate it for me. It has been over 25 years since I took a Spanish class and 20 for French. So I am beyond rusty.
Posted by Ashley Drake Gephart (Drake Intel Group) over 12 years ago
Sounds very interesting. Thanks for sharing. Like Ashley I am beyond rusty in French. I took it  more than 30 years ago. I am thinking of learning it again.

Ashley - I'd love to see if we can find a translator that is very accurate for all these members to use in their business. We are such a diverse culture with so many languages, it would be nice to find a translator that was as good as human.  I'll keep searching, if you'll keep testing....rusty or not!!  LOL!~
Posted by Brad Andersohn, ActiveBrad - 707.646.1876 (Executive Director of Education at eXp Realty) over 12 years ago
Gita - you might want to look into this one before you try learning from it.  I have only had a couple responses above that said it was not very accurate, but I don't speak any other languages besides english and escrow. Well....maybe a little bit of technobabble!  :-)
