In a frantic scramble last week to find a replacement for the Picnik.com closure on April 19th, I had written a post featuring 7 different FREE photo and graphic editing sites.
However, some many of my online friends were hoping to actually find a replacement editor that was similar or at least closer to the same look and feel of Picnik’s site. Is there such a site?

Well here it is! iPiccy.com is the closest you’re going to find to Picnik.com. The look and feel are more similar than any other site I’ve seen. iPiccy might actually be Picnik’s twin brother. Once you explore the site, you’ll see what I mean. iPiccy is 100% free, no registration required, and offers many of the same features and benefits that Picnik does and more.

Grabbing any image or photo is easy. Just click the appropriate button and GO! The editing options are endless and the ability to create some really cool customized graphics and images will be limited only by your creativity and of course your time and schedule. The workspace on iPiccy will be easy to navigate, especially for Picnik users, and will feel just like your old Picnik stomping grounds.

There are multiple effects with single click options at your fingertips. These will make your photos and images really “POP” and if you use a combination of the wide variety of tools and options available, the possibilities will be endless.

In literally minutes, you’ll be able to adjust your contrast, auto-correct colors, customize images, fix blemishes, remove red-eye, lighten and darken graphics, and even add text overlays, reflections, shadows and more. Having the ability to utilize some really cool effects without being a graphics designer makes iPiccy one of my TOP CHOICE recommendations and a great replacement for Picnik.
Here’s a sample we just put together for a Valentine show promotion:
We added a border,
created a matting,
went with a sepia effect,
added a thick pencil sketching,
made it black and white,
re-sized it keeping constraints,
added a drop shadow border,
dropped some text at the bottom and saved to the desktop.
We then emailed it as a .jpg attachment to the event promoter.
This all took about 3 minutes from beginning to end.
Check out iPiccy.com and compare it to Picnik. If you’ve never used Picnik.com, then you’ll have discovered a very cool free online photo and image editing site that you’re going to enjoy. If you have used Picnik, and feel as though you’ll be losing a best friend come April, I can promise that iPiccy will make the hurt a whole lot less. In fact, I think some of you will like iPiccy better than Picnik. Happy creating, enjoy~

I've tried a lot of photo editors Brad but this is one I haven't heard of. I know we are all going to miss Picnik, so thank you for finding and sharing so many alternatives!
Brad I have reposted this ..What a wonderful alternative . You always look out for us here in Active Rain
Thank you
HelpfulHannah
I've suggeated this post so that more members will hopfeully see it. Too many of them use Picnik and are looking for it's replacement. This seems to be it! Well done Brad.
Hi Brad: I was happy to run across iPiccy in the Chrome Web Store a few weeks ago. It is almost a clone with very few exceptions.
Yes... nice work. The panic that set in thinking Picnik was to be no more set us all wondering and looking for a replacement. Thank.s
Thanks Brad. I'll have to check it out. Do you know if they offer slide shows like Picnik Premium did? I have to recreate the slide shows I have on my blogs and I have been dreading the thought. I don't like the slide shows I created on Picasa. They aren't the same quality.
Judy - not sure about the slide shows,
I don't recall seeing that feature off the top but that doesn't mean it's not there. :)
You don't know how happy you've made me. I was dreading having to start with something new. If it resembles Picnik, then it's all good.
Brad - good write up and so far this is top of my list for 'close to picnik' - however we are still waiting on the picnik-like collage tools from ipiccy which they say 'coming soon' - they will have a sure winner once that comes (already a great set of tools though to be sure!)
Thanks! I will miss Picnik so much - I will have to try this out!
I've never heard of this one, but thank you. I still don't understand the Picnik going away thing though - I thought it was because google had something similar and Picnik was overlap? -Kasey
I have tried and iPiccy and it is woderful, feels like Picnik and in some ways is better. Thank you for finding and posting this - it is a hugh help for me and a lot of us.
Brad, someone mentioned Ipiccy to me and i was fooling around with Fotoflexer which is cool...will get to it...
Brad
Great to have another option to test out. The photos are not a big deal since I have everything saved on my computer and backed-up, but the slideshows I created are. Yeah I can download them but I don't see how that helps with those that are embedded in posts.
Jeff
Hello my friend,
THANKS a million for this. I cruised over to register...only to find out it wasn't necessary!
Hi Brad, Thank you for sharing this new resource for photo editing and I will re-blog this so many others will see this. I can't wait to try it out! Thank you again.
I suppose I'm a creature of habit. I'm hooked on photoshop on my own computer so I won't be missing websites that disappear. This post is a true service to the AR community but I'd also encourage use of stand alone software.
Brad, Thanks for finding and sharing iPicccy.com with us. I had never heard of it.
Brad, I came over from William's reblog to say thanks for sharing this site with us. It sounds like the answer we were looking for. I'll go check it out now.
Like life, change is inevitable, so I look forward to this new format. Bookmarked
Heading there right now to check it out! Thanks for doing the legwork and sharing!
Brad - this is the post I've been waiting for! You Rock ! I will check these photo editing programs out because I really haven't found anything I like as much as Picnik. SUGGESTED and I'll reblog in a day or two! Thanks so much for this information - I think I've been in denial that Picnik is really going away!
Wow! I think wow pretty sums it up. I never much used Picnik but I just went and worked on a photo with this program and was really amazed. Thanks for the tip and keep em coming.
Brad
Thanks for the suggestions for new photo editors. Do you have recommendations for a reasonable priced paid program? I find the free ones generally just don't have enough to edit enough elements. I used to use and like MS Picture It but they stopped supporting it. I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements but find it hard to use. Thanks for any suggestions, cheers cvc
Thanks for this suggestion to photo editing at iPiccy.com. I just spent some time with it and it's pretty user friendly.
I took a blocky looking computer generated logo that was created for me a long time ago, and after using the pencil drawing, artistic painting and blur tools, it is starting to look more like a piece of art.
Thank you also to the links of tools and widgets for our websites and blogs. You are a great resource for us, so I hit the Suggest button.
Curtis - I use Paint Shop Pro for offline photo editing stuff on a PC. It's less than 100 bucks and is much simpler than Adobe Photoshop which is of course the King of Image editors. Also check out Gimp which is a app for downloading, but like Adobe, it's pretty sophisticated... and it's free.
Also, Here's the other Free sites I suggested:

Very cool, Brad, thank you. Now lets just hope Google doesn't buy iPiccy and shut it down as well. Big bully ...
Brad, You are the Man! This is a very timely post, and I love all your suggestions. I am bookmarking, and will be trying out these new sites this week. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Brad, Thanks for letting us know about this alternative sight for us Picnik users. Thanks to Roy Kelley's re-blog that alerted me to your post.
All the best to you.
Hope all is well at Zillow.
Gloria
I had just become really fond of Picnik this past year. Only to find they were discontinuing it in April. You have provided a valuable resource for replacement applications. Wonderful stuff!
Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou! I just spent almost on hour on ipiccy and I think it's better than Picnik. Maybe it doesn't do everything that Picnik did, but the editing it does really well. I've been looking for a way to add my name to blog photos, and this is just the ticket!
Brad, I missed this originally alnd stopped over because of Roy's repost. Thanks for this tip. Since I barely know how to turn on my computer, picnik was just right for me - very simple. Can't wait to try this one out.
Brad, thanks for the information. I was starting to show signs of Picnik withdrawal... LOL!!!
Brad: Thank you....iPiccy.com is in Picnik is out! I also SUGGESTED...AND will re-blog as well.
I love Picnik and was disappointed that it was going away and I'm glad it had a twin! But, do you think that Google is planning a replacement product they just aren't announcing yet?
Todd- they're saying that they're going to bring some of the features of Picnik over to Google+ and I know Picasa will probably have or at least consider adding more features after Picniks funeral. Question is what features and when? In the meantime, this is a great replacement for Picnik and its users like me... and You! :-)
Hi Brad,
much appreciated, and will start playing with ir right away, it is becomming a real challenge to stay on top of all these thing, thanks for helping us all out, sharing.
Brad, thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. I was playing around with different solutions today and by far this is so close to Picnik....thank you. I've come to rely on Picnik all day every day and really was feeling down about loosing it. Thanks....Yeah!
For everyone that isn't Craig Rutman, this is useful information, Thanks
Thanks Brad I was starting to freak out a bit and ran across your blog today. You have always been so helpful to ActiveRainers! We miss you!
Hi Brad. Ed Silva re posted this and I was thrilled to catch it! Thanks for the information. I was really bumming about Picnik and have some hope thanks to you!
Hi Brad,
I am so excited to see your post. I am going to start using this site tonight. I tried the Google Picasa but do not really like it. This sounds like what I need to edit my pictures. Thanks so much. You are truly a lifesaver for us.
Thanks. I love Picnik and was hoping there was another similar site. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Brad,
Please take a look at this post:
http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/blog/startups/2012/02/pinterest-copyright-issues.html?ana=fbk&page=all
In the Pinterest agreement is says they can sell the photos and (among other things)
... you represent and warrant that: (i) you either are the sole and exclusive owner of all Member Content that you make available through the Site, Application and Services or you have all rights, licenses, consents and releases that are necessary to grant to Cold Brew Labs the rights in such Member Content, as contemplated under these Terms.
I'd imagine most of the photos I've seen so far are NOT individually owned, meaning most are repoductions from what I can see.
Hi Brad, I use the copyright symbol on my photos. Picnik allowed symbols. These others sites are not accepting symbols. I can get the copyright font to show up when I am typing but it will not adhere to the photo when saved. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you.
Gloria
Gloria - there's got to be a way to make this work, I'm in Texas at Agent ReBoot but when I get back home, I'd be happy to help you investigate this and find a solution. Please feel free to contact me next week and we can work on it togetrher. :)
Thank you Brad. Enjoy your time in Texas!
Gloria
Hi Brad,
It's funny. I had just been on the Picnik blog - which sent me over to Google+ and several people were talking aout iPiccy. Apparently, they took the news that Picnik was closing as an opportunity to step up their game. The result, is that they have been adding features like crazy over the past few weeks - at least that's what I go from the thread. There is also PicMonkey - which is being started by former Picnik employees. It's not up yet, but something to keep a lookout for!
Hi Ruthmarie - actually PicMonkey has launched, I posted my review on its launch a couple days ago.
iPiccy is still my fav and closest to picnik.com though. I still use it almost everyday. Here's another fun little creation from the site before it shuts down in April. :-)
I love Picnik -- I just don't understand why it is goint away.. what's the real story?
Great question Joan, only time will really tell. :)
Brad, Thanks for the tip on iPiccy.com. I love what you did with your example. I'm going to try it out tomorrow.
Thanks Sharon - In Picnik's absence, I think you'll really like it.
