The ActiveRain Stuff You Won't Find Anywhere Else on the Web

The Blogconomy - How Much Can You Earn Blogging

I remember my very first blog post here on ActiveRain.  It was way back in February of 2007, more than 5 years ago. At the time, I wasn't even considering that money could be made from blogging.  I was in it to connect with other local and national real estate pros, to learn and grow as well as share my own knowledge and experiences, and market my company and expertise to those that had a use or that saw value in what I offerred.

There are some bloggers out there only in it for the money and believe me, they are crushing it, but does anyone really care about making money blogging or are you doing it for the same reasons I was? Depending on the industry and business you're in will certainly make a difference in your answer, but has the thought crossed your mind that you COULD be making money blogging?

Here's an interesting infographic - The Blogconomy.

Infographic Source: - How much money can you make from blogging?

For me personally, and after reviewing this information, I'll stick to blogging for ALL the original reasons in which I started, but will also entertain and consider the thought of making an income in the process!? How about you? Why do you blog? How much do you make? Could you be making more money by having some additional knowledge, tools, and resources?

Wow!  Those are some heavy stats and graphics!  You can't get anymore colorful than this and the stats are thought provoking. Who knew?  I certainly didn't.  Thanks for a wealth of information about blogging.  When I attended the first AR event in Scottsdale in 2009, I had no idea....

Hi Brad...2007 was a big year for Active Rain, When I joined in February 2007 there was already 10,000 members, which is what attracted me. Yes meeting new people and sharing ideas was Number one.. Then a few started talking SEO...remember..ha Then our world was turned upside down.

Great amount of stats and facts here Brad...Well Down again!!

Cheers, have a fun and successful week!

Great post... lots of info...

I started in 2012 because Rich was told by Boomtown that it was a great way to drive traffic to our site... it does drive some but not enough to justify the time I spend in the Rain... However I love the people I've connected with and all the fun stuff and all the new stuff that I have learned not to mention the fact that I enjoy seeing what is going on in other markets, housing prices , property taxes... the Rain is fun and I enjoy it..

I actually stumbled upon Active Rain in 2007 and signed up and didn't really get into blogging until 2009.  It has been the single best thing to help me get business and I certainly hope it continues.  Thanks for the infographic!

Brad, I'd be interested in brainstorming about how to make money blogging about real estate.  Your thoughts?

Brad, as if there was any question?  All of the above can be summed up in "Blogging is HUGE."

That's some chart. Interesting that most bloggers are women. Guess they just have lots on their mind.

Hey Brad (comment #5)

I'd love to brainstorm with ya anytime. There are a variety of ways I see agents making money from blogging but it isn't like Arianna Huffington and doing it from 3rd party advertising. It's from doing it like Bob Stewart and other members teach here at Activerain. Feel free to give me a ring anytime at 707.646.1876 and we can chat.

Will you be at NAR this year?

I plan on attending both REBarcamp and the NAR Conference and Expo in San Francisco, maybe we'll see you there?

Brad, I want to pin this graphic onto my Pinterest.  There is so much here I need to take a section a day (or so) and absorb it to really evaluate where I am vs what is available and then where do I want to be.  Great job.
